What is Meaningful use?

  • Medicare & Medicaid EHR Incentive programs provide financial incentives for the “meaningful use” of certified EHR technology(EMR Standards) to improve the patient care.
  • To be qualified for EHR incentive payment, providers have to show that they are “meaningfully using” their EMR/EHR’s by being compliant on a number of objectives.
  • Meaningful Use is a 3 stage program designed to encourage providers into adopting new EMR/EHR technology and collecting meaningful data.

Medicare Program will offer incentive up to $39,000 for 2013 & $24,000 for the year 2014 Medicaid Incentive Program will offer incentive up to $63,750

Failure to meet the Meaningful use Objective by 2015 will cut your Medicare Re-imbursements that start at 1% per year and up to a maximum of 5% annual adjustments.
